I use BraidTight as a tool when I’m braiding and some choose to use it for banding. I spray it on the mane without saturating the hair, and I allow it to set so that it’s tacky feeling instead of wet. I like the tackiness that BraidTight gives because it’s just the right amount of stick to work with. It does its job without the gummy residue that others leave on my hands.
I love using the BraidSave gel after I finish banding or braiding to give the horse relief from itching, especially during the hot months of the year. I apply it to the horses crest, so it can absorb into the hair follicle, as well as applying it all over their neck. Pretty much anywhere that their itchy.
Itchy tails? I use it on the front side of their tail and down the sides of their butt to stop them from rubbing their tails.
I also have used it on scaley skin. I worked with a horse that peeled skin under his hair in the spring and summertime. I put BraidSave in the area that was peeling and massaged it in with a rubber mit. After a couple applications, the skin stopped peeling!
This is another one of my favorites that I’ve found a few different uses for. Of course it’s used to tame the frizz (as the name says) in the humid months. I have used this product on my own hair after styling it before I go out in the humidity and heat. It helps to control the frizz and keep my hairstyle as it was in the a/c!! I don’t spray a lot, I only mist it.
It also works like this on the manes, short or long. I mist it on the mane after I’m finished banding for a sleek look. Different hair types will respond with different results. Spray it on a long mane and it controls the frizz and fly away hair and leaves a long mane looking more tailored and not so out of control.
I like using it on slick hair when I braid. It gives the hair a different feel then the BraidTight and helps a little better to grip the hair in tighter braids.
On thick manes I spray it on the roots and it seems to collapse the hair, making it easier to band.
And surprisingly, I found that if I spray it on hair that has been braided and is still curly (even tight curls), it relaxes the hair and straightens it which makes it easier for me to rebraid (English horses). Or, if I’m changing the mane from braids to bands, it straightens the hair so it lays flat and pretty banded instead of a curly mess.
